The guides below are how I installed my Saitek hardware. Please note that I DO NOT USE SPAD, I use the default Saitek drivers.

If you wish to use the SPAD drivers, they are available from this SPAD website link

This Yoke and throttle quardant Installation is based on the old throttle to yoke connector - NOT USB throttle connector

Yoke power: It is recommended that you purchase the power pack for the yoke, this will alow you to run other saitek hardware from the yoke, such as the Saitek FIPS ( Flight Instrument Panels) - Power Pack Amazon Page

Yoke and Throttle Installation

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click Pro Flight Yoke System
  3. On the left menu - Click Downloads
  4. On the Downloads page, you will see Download Now 32-Bit
  5. Click Show All Downloads
  6. Under Windows - click Choose OS - Windows 10
  7. Scroll down to the most recent 64-Bit version of the driver - you can see the date of the version
  8. Click Download Now
  9. Connect your throttle the yoke and connect the yokes power adaptor - not supplied but DO NOT connect the USB lead to the PC yet - Amazon Page
  10. Go to your downloads folder and right click the file Flight_Yoke_System_x64_8_0_213_0
  11. Click Run as admin
  12. When prompted, plug the yoke USB plug into an OLD style USB port (not a blue USB port)
  13. On the install window - click Next the click Finish
  14. Run X-plane 11
  15. Click Settings
  16. Click Joystick
  17. On Device: If not already selected, select Saitek Pro Flight Yoke
  18. The message: Uncalibrated device will appear
  19. You will also see a purple message: Multiple Axis assigned to pitch, roll and throttle - we will fix this in a bit :-)
  20. Click Calibrate now
  21. Follow the instructions to calibrate the yoke and the throttle quadrant
  22. Once the calibration is completed you will see the message in purple: Multiple Axis assigned to pitch, roll and throttle at the bottom of the menu

This message is appearing because you have the same functions assigned to two sets of hardware: Joystick and Yoke and you need to remove those functions from the correct device according to the aircraft your going to fly.

Rudder Pedal Installation

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
  3. Scroll to and click Downloads
  4. On Flight Rudder Pedals Software select your bit version and click Download Now
  5. Go to your downloads folder and right click the file Flight_Rudder_Pedals_x64....
  6. Click Run as admin
  7. When prompted, plug the yoke USB plug into an old style USB 1 port (Not BLUE)
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Finish
  10. Run X-plane 11
  11. Click Settings
  12. The Saitek Rudder Pedals should now be selected - if not, click the Device dropdown and select Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
  13. Click Calibrate now to go through the calibration process
  14. Before you test the pedals - confirm there is no PURPLE message advising of Multiple Axis assigned to YAW - if there is, select the device with the duplicate YAW assigned (mine is my Logitech Joystick for flying my Helicopter shown below Function 2 - Z axis YAW) and remove the function



  15. Remove the function from the joystick by clicking on 2 (Twist) > selecting None and then clicking Done
  16. Now test your pedals


Flight Instrument Panels

IMPORTANT: Ensure your fips are plugged into a powered USB HUB, if no additional power, they will not work

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click on Pro Flight Instrument Panels
  3. Click Downloads
  4. Click Show All Downloads
  5. Click Choose OS and select Windows 10
  6. Download the 64-bit version of Flight Instrument Panel Drivers
  7. Also, download the 64-bit version of the X Plane Plug-in
  8. Install both drivers as Admin
  9. When prompted, connect each FIP USB lead to the 3 USB ports on the rear of the Saitek yoke
  10. Next, install the Flight Instrument Panel Driver
  11. When prompted, connect each FIP USB to the ports on the yoke - DO NOT CONNECT TO A BLUE USB 3 port
  12. Click Next and when prompted - click Finish (Your FIPS will light up once installed)
  13. Click Finish
  14. Start X-plane 11, load a flight
  15. Once the sim has loaded, each FIP should display an instrument
  16. If you dont see any displays, reinstall the X Plane Plug in drivers and restart the sim


Multipanel

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click on Pro Flight Multi Panel
  3. Click Downloads
  4. Click Show All Downloads
  5. Click Choose OS and select Windows 10
  6. Scroll down to X Plane Plug-in 64-bit
  7. Run file as Admin
  8. Complete file installation
  9. Connect the multipanel
  10. Reload the sim
  11. Test the panel by selecting each mode and adjusting the value: Heading | Altitude | Speed |etc etc


Switch Panel

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click on Pro Flight Switch Panel
  3. Click Downloads
  4. Click Show All Downloads
  5. Click Choose OS and select Windows 10
  6. Scroll down to the 64-bit X Plane Plug-in click Download Now
  7. Run file as Admin
  8. Complete file installation
  9. Connect the Multipanel
  10. Reload the sim
  11. Test the panel


Radio Panel

Setting up Radio Panel

  1. Go to the saitek drivers page: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Click on Pro Flight Radio Panel
  3. Click Downloads
  4. Click Show All Downloads
  5. Click Choose OS and select Windows 10
  6. Scroll down to the 64-bit X Plane Plug-in click Download Now
  7. Run the X Plane Plug-in file as Admin
  8. Complete file installation
  9. Connect the Radio Panel
  10. Reload the sim
  11. Test the panel


Trim Wheel

Setting up Trim Wheel

  1. Go to http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
  2. Scroll down to Legacy Products
  3. Download the Pro Flight Cessna Trim Wheel drivers:
  4. Driver 64 bit
  5. Software 64 bit
  6. When prompted, plug the yoke USB plug into a USB 1 port
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Finish and restart your PC
  9. Run X-plane 11
  10. Click Settings
  11. Trim wheel should now be selected
  12. Complete the calibration process
  13. Start a flight and test the trim wheel


Setting up Views on the Yoke

  1. Click Settings
  2. On Device select Saitek Pro Flight Yoke
  3. On View select Front of Yoke
  4. You will now see each button with a number assigned
  5. An Example:
  6. I want to use switch button 6 to move my camera UP
  7. On LEFT menu click EDIT on label 6
  8. In the Search field type Views > Manipulate view
  9. Now you can select which behaviour to assign to the respective button




Windows 10 USB Power Management

Sometimes I have issues with USB hardware stopping / not responding. One way you can go toward preventing this from happening is to turn off Windows 10 USB power management

  1. In the Windows 10 search box type Device Manager
  2. The Device Manager hardware list will now appear
  3. Click on the arrow next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
  4. To switch power management OFF

  5. Right click on each USB ontroller
  6. Click Properties
  7. Click Power Management
  8. Tick the option Allow this device to wake the computer
  9. Click Ok
  10. Restart your PC
