King Air C90 Cold and Dark Start Checklist

  1. Confirm Parking Brake is set ON
  2. Confirm Landing Gear is DOWN
  3. Confirm FLAPS are closed
  4. Confirm all switches are OFF
  5. Confirm Fuel Cutoff levers OFF
  6. Confirm ignition start is OFF
  7. Confirm throttle and mixture sliders are closed
  8. Confirm FEATHER levers are Feather
  9. Master BAT ON
  10. Master ALT ON
  11. Avionics switch ON
  12. Fuel pump ON
  13. Enter data into autopilot
  14. Pitot heat ON
  15. Nav lights ON
  16. Anti collison beacon: ON
  17. Strobe ON
  18. Fuel cutoff levers: Fully Forward
  19. Turn key to START
  20. Left Ignition Start switch ON
  21. Right Ignition Start switch ON
  22. After start pull MIX levers back slightly to IDLE engine
  23. Turn key to BOTH/ALL
  24. Trim SET
  25. Confirm runway in use on ATIS
  26. Turn on TAXI lights
  27. External view - test all control surfaces
  28. Obtain taxi clearence and follow ATC instructions
  29. Set FEATHER levers to full
  30. *
  31. Taxi to runway
  32. Final check autopilot and instruments
  33. After Takeoff.....
  34. Confirm positive climb
  35. Gear: UP
  36. Flaps: Close
  37. Trim SET
  38. Taxi lights OFF
  39. Landing Lights OFF
  40. Trim SET
  41. Activate Autopilot
  42. Climb and maintain 2000 ft - set trim for balanced flight

  43. Use the VOR table above to navigate your route
  44. Start of Descent Formula: current altitude x 3 example 4,500 ft x 3 = start of descent 13.5 miles from destination
  45. Reduce speed
  46. Contact ATC for instructions

  47. Listen to ATIS
  48. Review airport maps
  49. set descent rate - about 3,000 p/m
  50. Final approach checklist.....
  51. Landing lights ON
  52. Gear DOWN
  53. Flaps SET
  54. Descent Trim: SET
  55. Autothrottle OFF
  56. 800ft Autopilot OFF
  57. Parking......
  58. Pull mixture levers fully back
  59. Pull Feather levers fully back
  60. Switch off Igniton switch
  61. All switches OFF
